Nonprofits bring people together, offering everyone an opportunity to support their communities and make a difference. Today, Independent Sector President and CEO Dr. Akilah Watkins announced the formation of a Panel on Sector Independence to help ensure that nonprofit organizations can freely pursue their missions with strong and effective self-governance. Professor Roger Colinvaux of Catholic Law has joined 23 other experts from charities, philanthropies, and universities on this panel. Together, they will develop recommendations to protect nonprofits and enable them to continue their important work without undue outside influence.

Professor Colinvaux brings valuable legal knowledge to this project and has been active in important discussions about policies for tax-exempt organizations. In March, he also took part in the "Reconsidering Bob Jones: Public Policy, Illegality, and DEI" panel at UCLA’s 29th Western Conference on Tax-Exempt Organizations.
