Out of hundreds of applicants nationwide, two students from Catholic Law have been selected for the 2026 Janet D. Steiger Fellowship Program. Second-year law student Jacqueline Magner will serve as Connecticut's Steiger Fellow, and first-year law student Brooke Van Overen has been named Nevada's Steiger Fellow. Sponsored by the American Bar Association's Antitrust Law Section, this program places law students in summer positions with State Attorneys General offices across the country. During their fellowships, Magner and Van Overen will gain practical experience working on consumer protection investigations and litigation.
The Janet D. Steiger Fellowship Project gives law students the chance to work in public service and consumer advocacy roles. Participants spend the summer in consumer protection departments at state and territorial Offices of Attorneys General, other consumer protection agencies, the National Association of Attorneys General, or the Attorney General’s Office of the District of Columbia. Since starting in 2005, the program has supported the career development of more than 600 former Fellows, many of whom now work in areas like tech law, consumer protection, privacy, and antitrust.
