Juan Carlos RiofrioJuan Carlos Riofrio, International and Special Academic Program Manager and Lecturer at Catholic Law, recently embarked on a thought-provoking journey to upstate New York, where he delivered two honorary lectures on the concept of hope and its relationship to the law. Invited by Cayuga Community College and Onondaga Community College, Riofrio captivated audiences with his unique perspective, blending scientific, philosophical, and faith-based viewpoints. His visit also included a one-day seminar at Cornell University, where he guided researchers on the subject of hope, and meetings with local officials, including the district attorney and sheriff, to discuss its broader implications. During his stay, Riofrio was interviewed by an Auburn area newspaper, The Citizen, which published a Q&A article on Saturday, April 25, highlighting his impactful discussions.

Reflecting on his lecture at Cayuga Community College, Riofrio shared how deeply moved he was by the audience's emotional response, particularly from older attendees. He recounted an anecdote about a bishop who, despite being in his 70s and battling cancer, achieved extraordinary productivity in his final decade, writing nearly 300 books and building churches. This story struck a chord with many, prompting them to reflect on their own lives and the potential for renewal and contribution at any stage. "It left a deeper impression on me than I had expected," Riofrio noted, as he witnessed individuals rediscovering hope and purpose, proving that it is never too late to make a meaningful impact.
