Juniors and Seniors from Archbishop Carroll High School with The Catholic University of America President Peter Kilpatrick
Catholic Law recently welcomed Juniors and Seniors from Archbishop Carroll High School (ACHS) to campus for the second annual Youth Summit, fostering connections between aspiring legal minds and the law school community. The event began with a warm welcome from University President Dr. Peter K. Kilpatrick, who shared insights about the legal profession and engaged students in a lively Q&A session. Catholic Law's Admissions team followed with an interactive lesson on jury selection, where high schoolers stepped into the roles of defense attorneys, prosecutors, and jurors, gaining hands-on experience in courtroom dynamics. The day continued with a tour of the law library and a session with the career office, where students learned about various legal career paths, including judicial internships, clerkships, and shadowing opportunities they could explore even before college.
The highlight of the summit was a student panel featuring 3Ls Albert Anaim, Sofia Guirguis, and Michael Kaiser, alongside 1Ls Jerra Holdip and Cecily Hudson. The panelists shared their journeys to law school, offering advice on college courses that prepared them for the rigors of legal education and reflecting on how their experiences in law school compared to their expectations. ACHS students eagerly asked questions, gaining valuable insights into the realities of pursuing a legal career. The event concluded with a lunch where law students and high schoolers continued their conversations, building connections and inspiring the next generation of legal professionals.
