Douglas Wigder's talk

On September 17, Catholic Law proudly welcomed back distinguished alumnus Douglas Wigdor ’93 for a dynamic program, From Headlines to Justice: Douglas Wigdor on the Frontlines of the #MeToo Movement. The conversation was guided by Professor Cara Drinan, a nationally respected scholar whose teaching and research explore fairness and equity in the justice system, making her a fitting partner for this important discussion.

Dean Stephen C. Payne opened the evening by noting Widgor’s unique place in the legal landscape as one of the nation’s preeminent plaintiffs’ employment and sexual assault survivors’ attorneys. As founding partner of Wigdor LLP, he has devoted his career to representing victims of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation—often in cases that have captured international attention. His groundbreaking work includes representing clients in cases involving Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Harvey Weinstein, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Jeffrey Epstein, Fox News, and the NFL.

Douglas Wigdor and Cara DrinanWigdor’s advocacy has reshaped workplace culture and advanced accountability at the highest levels of power. His impact has been recognized repeatedly: the Financial Times described him as “America’s most prominent #MeToo lawyer”; he has testified before the UK Parliament; and his work has been featured in virtually every major news outlet. His career has also been profiled in documentaries, including a Netflix feature on the Strauss-Kahn case, a CNN+/HBO series on Rupert Murdoch, and an upcoming Netflix documentary on the prosecution of Sean Combs. Most recently, he was named to City & State New York’s 2025 Law Power 100, which praised him for shaping the national conversation on workplace accountability and securing reforms, corporate resignations, and landmark settlements.

Douglas Wigdor and Cara DrinanThe program offered candid reflections on both the triumphs and trials of life in the courtroom. As the evening concluded, Professor Drinan posed a final question: what makes a truly great trial attorney? Wigdor’s response—thorough preparation, trusted relationships, and a deep respect for clients, colleagues, and even adversaries—left students and alumni with enduring lessons to carry forward in their own legal journeys.
