Catholic Law's Center for Law and the Human Person recently convened a gathering of its Tolle et Lege reading society to explore the sources of resilience as depicted in Viktor Frankl’s moving memoir of his experiences in a concentration camp, Man’s Search for Meaning. The Center's Lumen Legis Fellow, William Rooney, shared his reflections on Frankl’s work, especially in light of the Christian teleological understanding of human suffering and the heroic witness of St. Maximilian Kolbe.
Tolle et Lege is dedicated to examining classic works in the Catholic intellectual tradition, although as this recent gathering demonstrated, those works do not have to be explicitly Catholic but rather engage deep and universal questions about the meaning and dignity of the human person.
