Maryland FlagGovernor Wes Moore today announced the appointment of Joseph C. Ruddy '01, a Catholic Law alumnus, to the Prince George’s County Circuit Court, highlighting his extensive legal career and dedication to justice. Ruddy has served as an attorney with the Prince George’s County Office of Law for seven years, currently acting as the primary legal advisor for the Prince George’s County Police Department since June 2025. Previously, he was deputy county attorney, overseeing government operations and providing legal counsel to county agencies, including the County Council. With 15 years as a prosecutor in the State’s Attorney’s Office and earlier experience as a law clerk to the Honorable Ronald D. Schiff, Ruddy brings a wealth of expertise to the bench. He has also contributed as a course instructor for police departments, teaching on topics like the Fourth Amendment and expert testimony.
