Carl HobbsCarl Hobbs, a proud alumnus of Catholic Law, Class of 2016, is stepping into a new role as President of the Catholic Law Alumni Council. His journey with the alumni council began in 2017, driven by a deep connection to his alma mater. "Catholic Law holds a special place in my heart," Carl shared. "I enjoyed my time as a student and wanted to continue to be involved with the school upon my graduation." This enduring bond with the institution has fueled his commitment to fostering a vibrant alumni community and supporting current students.

Currently serving as Deputy Counsel to the Inspector General at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Carl manages congressional affairs, media relations, and FOIA matters. Beyond his professional achievements, mentorship has been a cornerstone of his life. Inspired by his mother, a teacher who left a lasting impact on her students, Carl strives to guide and uplift current law students. As the first attorney in his family, he recalls how invaluable mentorship was during his own law school journey. "I leaned heavily on the advice and counsel of law professors, practicing attorneys, and Catholic Law administrators," he said. "They made a big difference in how I navigated law school while working full-time and in the career choices I made after graduation."

Hobbs wins Adjunct of the Year awardReflecting on his time at Catholic Law, Carl cherishes the camaraderie with classmates, engaging discussions with professors, and the countless hours spent studying after long days of work and classes. Among his many fond memories, one stands out: being honored as Adjunct Lecturer of the Year during the 2023 Awards Ceremony. "I will never forget that night – I was humbled by the honor," he shared. As he takes on this new leadership role, Carl is excited about the future of Catholic Law and hopes to contribute to its continued success. "It’s exciting to see all the great things happening at the school right now," he said. "I hope to be a small part of continuing that success in the years to come."
