classroom discussion

On September 4, Catholic Law's Center for Religious Liberty brought together its two Directors to lead a dynamic discussion for law students, examining the evolving landscape of religious liberty cases in the American judicial system. Designed to provide valuable insight and professional development, the event focused on significant legal battles currently before the Supreme Court of the United States, as well as key decisions from the previous term and the important legal precedents they set. This comprehensive conversation offered law students an in-depth understanding of religious liberty jurisprudence.

William Saunders and Mark RienziThe discussion was guided by William L. Saunders, Director of the Program in Human Rights at the Institute for Human Ecology and Co-Director of the Center, who posed questions that Professor Mark L. Rienzi, the Center’s Co-Director and President of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, answered with clarity and expertise. In addition, the event featured a spotlight on the Religious Liberty Clinic at Catholic Law. Professor Christopher Ross, a fellow of the Center, shared insights into the clinic’s recent activities, presenting some of the work carried out by students during the Spring Semester and underscoring the clinic’s role in providing a practical legal education.
