Catholic Law alumnus John P. “Jack” Heekin '11 was sworn in as the 42nd U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida by Chief District Judge Mark E. Walker. Mr. Heekin was appointed interim U.S. Attorney for the district on May 6, 2025, and was officially nominated to the role that same day. Reflecting on the appointment, U.S. Attorney Heekin stated, “I am deeply honored to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, and look forward to working alongside our outstanding prosecutors, support staff, and law enforcement partners to keep our communities safe." His nomination is pending before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
