Why did you choose to go to law school?

While I was in undergrad, I took a class that dealt with copyright law and various other areas related to the music industry. I was fascinated to read about these famous cases, and I decided that law school might be an option for me. Following that, I luckily had a few great experiences with my local prosecutor’s office which solidified my decision.

Why Catholic Law? (prior to attending)

I chose Catholic Law primarily for its prime location. Studying law in Washington, DC, offers an unparalleled experience. Being here has opened doors to unique opportunities that I wouldn’t have found elsewhere. Additionally, having access to the expansive Catholic University campus and a well-designed, inspiring building for studying and learning has made the experience even more rewarding.

I was a member of the Religious Liberty Clinic where I was able to work on amicus curiae briefs in appellate courts. I was also able to compete with the Moot Court Association in both the Ellen A. (Nell) Hennessy Employee Benefits Moot Court Competition and the Seigenthaler-Sutherland Cup National First Amendment Moot Court Competition. In addition, I was a Managing Editor of the Catholic University Law Review.

What experiences at Catholic Law were highlights for you?

From making ice cream sculptures in Copyright, to checking in to Lawlidays, to competing in the CIT Cornhole competition, there are too many great experiences to list. The students also make this school special, and I am grateful to have such a wonderful class. One special highlight was traveling to the University of Michigan with Gerald Sharpe for the Federalist Society National Student Symposium to accept the James Wilson Award for Academic Excellence on behalf of the CUA chapter.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I will return to State Farm as a Law Associate, and after the bar exam, an Attorney.

Why Catholic Law now?

The world-class faculty have greatly helped me prepare for practice. Catholic Law supported me every step of the way, which was at times difficult as a first-generation law student. I do not believe my law school experience would have been so much fun, nor would I have been as successful, if I had gone elsewhere.
