On Wednesday, January 22, members of Catholic Law’s Women’s Law Caucus (WLC) kicked off the New Year with a fun and fierce networking event. Sponsored by the D.C. office of Morgan Lewis, members of both the WLC and Morgan Lewis met up for a SoulCycle session to support and promote women’s health. After the high intensity workout, the group headed over to Busboys and Poets for a networking meet-and-greet. (Pictured: Laela Shallal and Mary Turgeon)

WLC President, Mary Turgeon (2L), shared her excitement over the event,

“I started this year off as president with the goal of giving members the opportunity to participate in a variety of ways this year. I wanted women to be able to get involved however they could whether it be through activism, philanthropy, or even physical activity. To do so, we sponsored a self-defense class as well as a feminine care product drive in the fall and had planned several other events for the spring. When one of our 1L representatives, Laela Shallal, proposed the idea for a SoulCycle class, the whole exec board was very excited because it was something new, fun, and a great way to support women's health! Laela has been instrumental in coordinating various aspects of this event! In the fall, Dean Gaskins reached out to various law firms on our behalf to see if anyone would sponsor our events this year and that was how we got in touch with Morgan Lewis! They have been so helpful and generous with this whole event!

WLC is very excited to see this event become a success because we believe that it is a great opportunity for women in the law school to come together with women who are currently practicing for a fun experience that starts the semester on the right foot. Law school can be stressful so having a supportive network of women comprised of peers and mentors is critical for emerging attorneys! We hope that this unique event, which is comprised of a free SoulCycle class and a networking reception afterwards, will help facilitate relationships and inspire WLC members.”
