William Beckwith '00 was named Employee of the Year at the Federal Communications Commission, where he serves as a Senior Policy Attorney-Advisor in the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau. Will was recognized by the Commission for his leadership and innovation in drafting a Report to Congress that identified states’ diversion of 911 fees billed to telephone customers to non-911 and non-public safety uses. He also developed new rules and standards that will enable first responders to better locate users of mobile and cloud-based communications services in environs like hotels, campuses, and high-rise buildings.

When not at the FCC, Will can be found with his wife, Edita, in Vienna, Virginia, where he coaches the little league team of his son Preston (12) and helps his daughter Sandra (10) practice gymnastics on the backyard trampoline.
