Catholic Charities VITA

The Columbus Community Legal Services Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program in partnership with Catholic Charities prepared 390 returns for a total of $387,886 in IRS refunds and $213,124 in state refunds.

The VITA program ran from February 2 to April 13 on Saturdays.

The service was available to persons with disabilities, individuals with limited English, and individuals or families with moderate to low income. All greeters, tax preparers, and reviewers were volunteers. They went through training by CCLS professors who are highly qualified in this field and must pass an IRS certification test. The majority of preparers have a background in accounting, business, or are current students at the Columbus School of Law.
