Students for Public Interest Law

Students for Public Interest Law (SPIL), founded in 1989, is an Associate Member of the National Association for Public Interest Law (NAPIL). SPIL was organized to further our law school's commitment to providing legal services in public interest.

SPIL holds numerous community service and pro bono activities to provide students with experience in public interest law. SPIL also organizes the Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP) study guide and used book sales.

SPIL's biggest event is the Annual SPIL Live and Silent Auction, held in February.  Every year, the auction raises approximately $25,000 to subsidize up to 18 summer stipends for CUA law students working in public interest positions that they would otherwise be unable to accept.
