Columbus School of Law Receives $1.4 Million for Three New Initiatives

The Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America has recently received gifts and commitments totaling $1.4 million that will provide initial funding for three new initiatives supporting research and educational opportunities for faculty and students.

“We are very appreciative of the support we have received for these programs,” said law school Dean Daniel F. Attridge. “We’ve selected three initiatives that we think are very consistent with our strengths — our location here in Washington, D.C., our mission as part of The Catholic University of America, and the expertise of our faculty.”

The three new intiatives involve issues of compliance, investigations, and corporate responsibility; criminal justice reform; and religious liberty. Each initiative will capitalize on our Washington location, our faith-based mission, and our very talented faculty. All three initiatives will directly benefit our students. The students will have new, enhanced opportunities to learn about cutting-edge legal issues. They will acquire valuable practical experience to enhance their marketability as job applicants.

Securities Law Program Alumni Celebrate a Strong Community

For the past decade and a half, the Securities Law Program at the Columbus School of Law has been honoring its graduates and celebrating their success. One way the CUA Law Alumni Association has been doing this is by holding CUA Securities Alumni luncheons at the various institutions and firms at which CUA has been particularly successful.

The practice which was initiated at the Securities and Exchange Commission, has expanded to FINRA and several other firms. On September 13, a group of Securities Law Program graduates were hosted on the FINRA Shady Grove campus to lunch with colleagues and former classmates along with Professor David Lipton, Director of the Securities Law Program.
