CUA Law 2016 Summer Abroad Programs in Italy and Poland

Fifteen students participated in Catholic University's fourth International Human Rights Summer Law Program in Rome from May 21 to June 11, 2016. Offered for the first time in 2011, the Program allows students to earn four credits in an academically intense program in which they may select two out of three courses of study: International Environmental Law, Tax Policy and Human Rights, and Art, Cultural Property and Human Rights. The faculty for the 2016 summer program included CUA Law Professors Lucia Silecchia, Susanna Fischer and Regina Jefferson.

CUA Law students also traveld traveled to Cracow, Poland, this summer to participate in the International Business and Trade Summer Law Program from June 11 – July 13. The Cracow Summer Program was designed to foster an academic exchange between The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law and the Jagiellonian University of Cracow. Established in 1992, the Program celebrated its 25th Anniversary this year.

NThe Judge Frederick B. Ugast Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law is proud to establish The Judge Frederick B. Ugast Memorial Scholarship Fund to honor the memory of The Honorable Frederick B. Ugast, former Chief Judge of the Superior Court of Washington, D.C., who served as the Judge in Residence at The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law from 1994 until 2013. Ugast touched the lives of many in the CUA Law Community before, during, and after his time serving as Judge in Residence. His former colleagues at CUA Law remember him with great fondness and respect. The fund will be used to support students in the Law School, on the basis of need or merit, as determined by the administration of the School.

New Publications from CUA Law

Two important CUA Law alumni publications are available online. The Law School’s Honor Roll of Donors presents a list of alumni and friends who have supported CUA Law by sharing not only of their treasure, but also of their time and talent. For the second year in a row, CUA Law is publicly recognizing its many volunteers who have given considerable time and expertise to the Law School through an array of programs. We thank all of our donors for your considerable investment of time, talent, and treasure.

The Summer 2016 edition of CUA Lawyer is also available online and should have reached your mailboxes by now. In our feature story, "CUA Law Advantage in Action: A Student’s Perspective," we are proud to describe the accomplishments of just a few of our talented students.

The Law School has also recently published a new brochure to highlight the CUA Law Advantage to perspective students.
