CUA Law E-newsletter - August 2015
Dean Designate Daniel F. Attridge
A letter from Dean Daniel F. Attridge:

Dear CUA Law Alumni, Family, and Friends,

We’re almost ready to begin our 2015-16 academic year.  Orientation for our new first-year students will be held from August 18 to 20.  Classes for all students begin on August 24.  We look forward to welcoming our newest class and to welcoming back our returning students.  This is a brief report on what’s been happening and what’s coming up:

1.  Pope Francis at CUA.  As previously announced,  Pope Francis will be coming to Catholic University’s campus and celebrating Mass outdoors on the east side of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday, September 23.  Some of you have inquired about the availability of tickets for the Mass.  Unfortunately, ticket information has not yet been released to us.  But here is a link to other information about this historic visit to CUA.

CUA Law Visits Alumni at Securities & Exchange Commission

On July 8, 2015 more than two dozen alumni employed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission gathered for a luncheon at the Federal agency’s headquarters. The alumni were joined by Professor David A. Lipton, director of the Securities Law Program, and Dean Daniel F. Attridge. The numerous positions held within the SEC by CUA law alumni are testament to the securities law program's durability and strength. They include a commissioner, deputy directors, associate directors, assistant directors, senior counsel and several past and present legal assistants to the SEC's chair and commissioners.

CUA Law In Action Series

CUA Law’s Offices of Alumni Relations and Career & Professional Development are pleased to announce a new initiative to benefit both students and alumni.  Beginning this fall, the offices will co-sponsor a series of career panels and networking receptions which will focus on a particular practice area currently offered as a curricular concentration at the Law School.

Each segment of the series will begin with a career panel featuring alumni in a particular practice area to provide career advice to current law students. The career panel will be followed a networking reception that will allow alumni an opportunity to connect with other alums in their  particular field and will also allow students to meet alumni in an area that is of interest to them.   The following practice areas have been scheduled, but check back on the Alumni Calendar often for updates:
