Dean Designate Daniel F. Attridge
A letter from Dean Daniel F. Attridge:

Dear CUA Law Alumni, Family, and Friends,

Our busy fall semester is quickly coming to a close.  Our classes end on November 25, we pause for the  Thanksgiving break, and then we head right into final exams beginning on December 3 and concluding on December 17.  This is a brief report on what’s been happening and what’s coming up:

1.  Thanksgiving.  On behalf of all of us at CUA Law, we wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving.  We hope you have an opportunity to celebrate this wonderful national holiday with your family and friends.  At the Law School, we all have much for which to be grateful.  Ours is a strong community of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends who are dedicated to each other and to helping others.  We are thankful for the love of our family and friends, for our health and prosperity, and for the promise of the future.          Read more here

The Students for Public Interest Law (SPIL) invite you to the 24th Annual SPIL Auction to be held Friday, February 13, 2015 from 6:30 – 10 p.m. in the Law School Atrium.  This year’s auction theme is Welcome to Wonderland and, as always, it promises to be an eventful evening for a great cause. All money raised will be used to support students taking summer positions in the public interest field. Please mark the date and direct any questions or donations to the SPIL Auction Co-Chairs, Nicole A. Chauriye and Norah Sloss at

CUA Law Moot Court Competitions

The Catholic Law Moot Court Association will host three interschool competitions this year. On February 6-7, Catholic Law will host the 21st Annual National Telecommunications Competition in conjunction with the Federal Communications Bar Association. On February 27-28, CUA Law will host its 1st Annual CUA Immigration Law Moot Court Competition.  Finally, the Sutherland Cup Competition is one of the oldest constitutional law competitions in the country and draws schools from as far away as Texas and Nevada. This year’s competition will take place on March 27-28

Now that the Association has added a third interschool competition, they need alumni support more than ever.  Please consider lending your time to help moot teams, review briefs, or judge competitions.  Your contribution will take a small amount of time but would be invaluable in helping the Association prepare and host these competitions.  To volunteer with the Association, please contact law students, Tina Petkova or Carla Weaver. For more information about the Moot Court Association and teams, please click here.

CUA Law & Giving Tuesday

After Black Friday and Cyber Monday, there is Giving Tuesday.  On December 2nd charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. We hope that you will join in the giving spirit, and make a gift to CUA Law on Giving Tuesday.  You can also get in the spirit by posting about your support of CUA Law on social media with the hashtag #GivingTuesday.

To make your gift, please click here and make your gift to CUA Law.  We truly appreciate every gift from our alumni, and hope that you will remember us on Giving Tuesday.

Calendar Year-End Giving

In this season of giving and goodwill, we hope you will consider a gift to the Annual Fund to make a difference in the lives of our deserving students at CUA Law. Your year-end support is especially critical to helping CUA Law open doors for a quality legal education. As 2014 comes to an end, and a new year with new opportunities unfolds, there are several options to make a year-end investment in the Law School in the most tax-wise and effective manner.

Your gift at this time will also provide support for scholarships, our clinics, as well as our outstanding programs throughout the Law School. To find out how you can make your gift today please click here.

Please note that CUA Law School offices are closed from December 22 through January 5. During this time we encourage you to make your gift online using our secure credit card system. For more information, please contact Lauren Enlow in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at 202-319-4638.

Don’t Forget:  It’s not too late to make a 2014 Charitable IRA Rollover Gift!  For further information, contact Tanya Easton at or 202-319-4697.
