Catholic University law school alumnus Chris Concannon has been named chief executive of BATS Global Markets Inc., one of the country’s three big stock-exchange operators.
His appointment is effective March 31st.  Concannon, a 1994 graduate of the Columbus School of Law, has held previous positions with the high-speed trading firm Virtu Financial LLC, and as an executive of Nasdaq OMX Group Inc.
Earlier in his career, he served as an associate of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP from 1997 to 1999 and also served as an attorney in the Division of Market Regulation at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from 1994 to 1997 and as a legislative analyst at the American Stock Exchange from 1992 to 1995. During his time at the SEC, he specialized in the review and approval of rules of the various self-regulatory organizations, the regulation of securities underwriting, and the regulation of the clearance and settlement of securities transactions.
