National Trials Team Celebrates Runner-Up Finish in National Mock Trial Competition

Four members of Catholic University’s National Trials Team posed with faculty advisor Professor Louis Barracato and Dean Daniel Attridge on April 29 to mark their second place finish in the second annual National Mock Trial Competition, hosted by the Florida State University College of Law on March 21-23, 2014.
The CUA Law team squared off against 11 other law schools in the civil mock trial competition.  Team members included Caitlin Payne (3L), Steven Widmann (2L), Kathleen Daily (3L), and Ryan Patino (3L). Widmann was also recognized with the Best Advocate Award.
Participating schools included Brooklyn Law School, SUNY Buffalo Law School, Charleston School of Law, Faulkner University School of Law, Fordham University School of Law, Georgia State University College of Law, Golden Gate University School of Law, John Marshall Law School, Thomas M. Cooley Law School, University of Alabama School of Law, and the University of Wisconsin Law School.
The case worked by the mock trial competition teams involved a water rights dispute between a bottling company and an agricultural business.
