Columbus School of Law graduate Wes Adams, Class of 1997, has won election as State’s Attorney for Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The State's Attorney's Office represents the state in all legal proceedings for criminal cases in Anne Arundel County.

Benefitting from a nationwide swing toward the Republican Party in 2014, Adams upended the incumbent in the position by fifteen percentage points.  GOP candidates typically have a tough time winning contests for state’s attorney in heavily Democratic Maryland, but Adams managed to prevail despite being outspent nearly 3 to 1.
Adams, who resides with his wife and three children in Severna Park, Md., is anticipated to be sworn in in January.
The career prosecutor led the Homicide Division in the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Office for six years, improving its conviction rate during that time to nearly 90 percent.  According to his campaign bio, he also “had a short but rewarding career playing professional baseball.”
