2014 CUA Law Reunion Weekend • October 17 – 19, 2014

Attention Classes of 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004 and 2009….. Show your CUA Law pride by making a gift to the Law School!

Reunion weekend is just around the corner! Reunions provide a special opportunity for alumni to make a contribution by gift or pledge to CUA Law in honor of their reunion year. This year we hope that you will “give your year”.    The amount of the gift is not important, whether it is $20.09 or $1,964, it just matters that you give. We hope that you will choose to make a gift or pledge to the Law School even if you cannot attend the reunion.

During Reunion Weekend, we will recognize those classes with the highest attendance, participation and the most dollars raised. Make your gift today to put your class at the top of the list! To make your gift please visit https://community.law.edu/support today.

Here are the current leaders for each category:

Highest Attendance: The Class of 2004

Highest Participation: The Class of 1964

Most Dollars Raised: The Class of 1969

To register for Reunion events, please visit http://community.law.edu/reunion-weekend-2014.  For questions about Reunion giving please contact Annual Fund Coordinator, Lauren Enlow.

Support the CUA Law Annual Fund

Gifts to CUA Law’s Annual Fund support the people and programs that encourage each student to realize their potential and take on new challenges. Your generosity gives current and future CUA Law students the opportunity to dream, explore, lead, and excel.

When you make a gift to the Annual Fund, you help to meet the law school's most pressing needs, scholarships. Each year, CUA Law depends on contributions from alumni and friends in order to provide the CUA Law Advantage.  We offer our students a practical, focused and connected law school experience which allows them to succeed once they graduate. Your contributions will allow us to provide more financial aid to our deserving students. Please consider making a gift or pledge today.

To make a gift or pledge please click here. For questions about the Annual Fund please contact Annual Fund Coordinator, Lauren Enlow.

Students Get Inside Look at Supreme Court Advocacy

The United States Supreme Court issued two decisions in June that were clear victories for Catholic University law school Professor Mark Rienzi, who represented both cases on a pro bono basis over a period of years.

On June 30, the Supreme Court held in favor of the right of a family-owned business to exclude on religious grounds certain types of contraceptives from insurance coverage for its employees. The court’s 5-4 vote in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. marked the second victory for Rienzi, who was part of the legal team that filed a brief last fall at the Supreme Court in the Hobby Lobby case. Rienzi’s involvement in it came through the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, where he has served as senior counsel since 2011. Read more here

Federal Appellate Court Judge Makes Case for Unique Role of Catholic Law Schools

America’s approximately two dozen Catholic-affiliated law schools fulfill a critically important role in legal education, helping to form the character and intellect of future generations of lawyers while addressing questions of law, jurisprudence and constitutional self-government though the distinct lens of the Catholic intellectual tradition.

That assessment from the Honorable Diarmuid F. O’Scannlain, a judge serving on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, formed the philosophical foundation for his deliverance of the law school’s 2014 Brendan F. Brown Lecture, offered to the Columbus School of Law community in Slowinski Courtroom on Sept. 15. Read more here
