Our law school offers one of the most extensive legal externships programs in the country. Through the CUA Legal Externship Program, each year over 200 students earn course credits and gain practical experience by working at non-profit organizations, government agencies, law firms, trade associations, corporations, in congressional offices, and for judges. Catholic's location in the nation's capital provides students with many opportunities to serve as externs focusing on intellectual property law. The law school is within easy reach of the United States Patent & Trademark Office, the Copyright Office, the U.S. Congress, many state and federal courts including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and many law firms, corporations, and trade associations whose work includes intellectual property matters. The following list is a only sampling of the intellectual property externship opportunities available to Catholic students, as there are additional opportunities available both in the Washington, D.C. area and beyond.
