Lisa Everhart

Lisa A. Everhart joined the Columbus School of Law in 1998 as a part-time instructor in the lawyering skills program. Professor Everhart became a full-time lawyering skills teacher in 2004, and was appointed director of the program in 2005. She also teaches legal drafting (with a focus on transactional documents) and legal reasoning and writing in the LL.M. program offered jointly by CUA and Jagiellonian University, Cracow, Poland.

Before becoming a full-time CUA faculty member, Professor Everhart served as assistant executive attorney to the D.C. Board on Professional Responsibility, where she advised board members on D.C. ethics law. Professor Everhart also worked in legal publishing for more than a decade, serving as a principal attorney editor for West Group. Her responsibilities at West included managing a twelve-person editorial team, as well as authoring critical analyses of statutory, regulatory, and case law developments affecting federal procurement. Professor Everhart specialized in government contracts litigation and counseling while associated with the national law firms of Jones, Day; Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher; and Crowell & Moring.

Professor Everhart attended Georgetown University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Honors English.

A long-time resident of the Washington, DC area, Professor Everhart has volunteered for many years with abandoned and abused infants and children in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. She currently serves as the faculty advisor to CUA's Women's Law Caucus.

In Her Words ...

"CUA graduates pursue diverse career paths—spanning public interest, private practice and government service. The ability to analyze legal problems and to engage in effective written and oral advocacy are core skills for lawyers across all practice areas. Our rigorous first-year Lawyering Skills Program introduces students to these essential skills, preparing them to serve their clients, their communities, and society."
