Thank you for visiting the website of the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America. At CUA Law, we offer a first-rate legal education and much more.
A Community of Service – When you arrive at CUA Law, you become part of our family. We care about you as an individual and as a member of our community. Our Law School community also cares deeply about serving others. Inscribed into the stone walls of our Law School building is our call to action: “Do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.”
The Nation’s Capital – There is no better place to attend law school than Washington, D.C. This is where our nation’s laws are made, executed, and interpreted. Our location is just minutes away from the headquarters of the three branches of our government and offers access to opportunities at numerous federal agencies, corporations, law firms, and nonprofits that often lead to post-graduate employment offers and professional connections.
Practice-Ready – These days legal employers demand that new hires have both a strong grounding in doctrinal coursework and skills that make them stand out as practice-ready. CUA Law has long been a leader in real-world experiential programs where students learn while doing. Our clinics are rated among the best in the country. Our faculty literally wrote the book on externship programs. And our courses cover such practical topics as trial advocacy, negotiating strategies, and how to become a lawyer. Nobody does it better than CUA Law when it comes to focusing students on being practice-ready.
The CUA Law Advantage – Through our network of key connections, our alumni and faculty actively assist our students with career advice and finding job opportunities. These connections have paid off. The percentage of our recent graduates employed in government service is among the highest of all law schools. CUA Law is also one of the top feeder schools to law firms in the Washington area.
A Personal Note – I am not your typical dean or law professor. I have spent the last 32 years practicing law at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, a highly regarded law firm serving global clients with 1,500 lawyers. During the past 14 years, I have also served as the managing partner of Kirkland’s Washington office.
I have acquired a deep, first-hand sense of what kind of educational experience the marketplace wants its newest lawyers to have. I can assure you that I would not have come to CUA Law to serve as dean if I had not been 100-percent convinced that it offers precisely the right mix of opportunities for law students to prepare for today's job market and a lifetime of service to others.
I appreciate your taking the time to visit our website and invite you to visit us on campus. Your comments or suggestions are welcome. You can reach me at email@example.com.
With best wishes,
Daniel F. Attridge
