My summer internship is with the Rural Cellular Association. The Rural Cellular Association represents the interests of more than 100 competitive wireless carriers, including many rural and regional carriers. RCA advocates before the Federal Communications Commission, the White House, and Congress to educate policy makers on key issues that impact their members. As an intern, I work in the legal department to provide support in regulatory matters before the FCC. John T. Billings |

I am a rising 3L in the Institute for Communications Law Studies at Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law. I am Managing Editor of the CommLaw Conspectus: Journal of Communications Law and Policy and Vice President of the Communications Law Students Association. I also look forward to working with the FCBA to organize the 19th Annual National Telecommunications Moot Court Competition in her capacity as Vice Chancellor.
Last fall, I interned at the FCC in the Investigations and Hearings Division of the Enforcement Bureau, and spent my spring semester with the National Telecommunications and Information Administration in the Office of the Chief Counsel. I am excited to be back at the FCC this summer as a law clerk in the office of Commissioner McDowell and I am a grateful recipient of the FCBA Foundation’s Robert E. Lee Internship Stipend.

As a legal intern at the National Geographic Channel, I am responsible for drafting television program, talent, and independent contractor agreements. I also review legal binders that contain appearance, location, and acquired footage releases, for contractual accuracy and completeness in order to authorize release of final payment. Further, I draft and submit copyright infringement notifications for unauthorized Internet content. Lastly, I am working on an independent research project regarding privacy rights in an age of user-generated content. |

For the summer of 2012, I served as a Law Clerk with Reed Smith LLP's Global Regulatory Enforcement Practice where I spent the majority of my time with the practice group's Data Privacy, Security, and Management Practice and the Advertising, Technology, and Media Practice. As a large global law firm, Reed Smith exposed me to the range of technology related legal issues businesses are challenged with on a daily basis. I worked on a variety of projects, drafting memos and compliance guides related to cloud computing, web and mobile privacy, trademark licensing, and telemarketing. I was also able to continue working on a public policy campaign to improve today's Internet governance multi-stakeholder model. James N. Duchesne |
