Name: Daniel T. Kane, 3L

Home state: New York

Under graduate institution: The George Washington University

Legal Interest:

  • Intellectual Property

My favorite thing about CUA:

My favorite thing about the Columbus School of Law is the community that envelopes you when you become a student here. Law school is stereotyped as a time of intense competition and little social interaction. The Columbus School of Law is anything but that; CUA Law is immensely collaborative, welcoming, and teeming with social opportunities.

Why I chose CUA:

The best advice I ever got while looking at law schools was to go where you want to practice. I had gotten into a number of law schools, but I ultimately chose the Columbus School of Law because it was in DC and would help me realize my goals of litigating in DC.

What do you plan on doing after you graduate:

I plan to work in intellectual property, specifically patent law, one way or another. Whether it’s in a law firm or in a federal agency, I want to help inventors secure protections for the products of their time, passion, and hard work.

What do you most enjoy about studying law in Washington, D.C.:

I'll let you know when I find something I don't enjoy about it.
