Maryland Civil Practice (2 hrs.)
Litigation: Practice and Procedure > Advanced Courses
This course covers important procedural aspects of civil litigation in the maryland state courts. It surveys the Maryland Rules of Procedure, the courts and Judicial Proceedings Article of the Annotated code, and relevant common law principles. All stages of civil pretrial litigation are considered, but particular emphasis is placed on elements of maryland procedural law relating to pleadings, motions, and discovery. the course is directed primarily towards students planning to practice law in maryland, and its offers impor- tant preparation for those students who expect to become litigators in maryland. It seeks, as well, to prepare students for practice in maryland, who do not plan to litigate, but who merely seek more adequate knowledge of the distinctive procedural backdrop of general law practice in the state.
