This advanced course will offer an in-depth examination of procedural problems involved in multiparty, multiclaim litigation in federal and state court. The course will focus extensively on class action practice, criteria and litigation strategy. The course covers the disposition of duplicative litigation, problems peculiar to large case discovery, judicial control of litigation, and res judicata and collateral estoppel involved in multiparty, multiclaim litigation. The course also explores alternatives to the class action device. This is an EXAM course.
