Advent Season Ushered in with the Flick of a Switch

Every December presents for law students the opposing forces of stressful final exams, offset to an extent by the gentle, graceful glow of the approaching Christmas season.
The dichotomy began anew on Dec. 1, as the law school’s tree was lit during a brief ceremony that featured remarks delivered by Dean Veryl Miles, with a benediction from Rev. Jude DeAngelo, OFM Conv, chaplain and director of Catholic University’s Office of Campus Ministry.
In a departure from previous years, the tree’s lights were switched on by third-year law student Melissa Feldmeier, president of the Student Bar Association.
As has been his custom in recent years, the angel was placed atop the tree prior to the ceremony by the agile Professor David Lipton. The lighting ceremony was followed by punch and cookies.
