inancial aid is first and foremost a student service effort," says new financial aid director David Schrock. Schrock served as director of financial aid for 12 years at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. "My decision to accept a position at Catholic University," he says, "came at a time in my life when I was seeking new personal and professional challenges." A native of Indiana, Schrock is especially attracted to the fact that Catholic University holds a proud tradition of quality education with a meaningful personal faith component. "This is a source of renewed professional and personal inspiration," says David.

Like his dean, Schrock is also a realist. He feels that new financial aid resources are desperately needed to sustain the School of Law's extensive programs. "Right now, given our dependence upon tuition revenues, it is difficult to fully meet the financial expectations of most students, but what we can do well is provide professional, efficient service. My goal is that every student who has contact with our office leaves with feeling an appropriate and positive step has been taken to address his or her situation," David says.

David Schrock is married with twin daughters who both attend Goshen College in Indiana, and a high school son. David said there is nothing he likes better than being with family. In his free time, he bikes and explores urban neighborhoods. An interest perhaps nourished by his early 70s editorship of a newspaper that served the Adams Morgan neighborhood. This desire to reach out is sure to add a personalist touch to the needs of CUA Law students.
