SBA Fundraiser is Sweet News for Area Social Service

St. Ann's Infant and Maternity Home in northeast Washington, D.C., has an extra $365.00 in its coffers this week, thanks to the donated proceeds from the “2012 Dessert Cook Off,” sponsored by The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law’s Student Bar Association (SBA) on March 1.
For a $5.00 entry fee, members of the law school community cruised among tables laden with creative, unique, and delicious desserts offered by nearly a dozen student organizations.
The winner of the dessert competition got to designate the recipient of the money raised. A panel of faculty and staff members served as judges of the sweet delights.
In the end, the judges decided that the sweet concoctions put out by the Evening Law Students Association were the tastiest, and the money raised went to its choice, St Ann’s.
Second place was awarded to the American Bar Association (law student division) and third place went to the Christian Legal Society.
The dessert challenge was the capstone event of the law school’s Diversity Week, and SBA President Stella Lee said “Diversity Dessert Off was a success.”
