Catholic University law school alumna Jennifer McHugh, Class of 1994, is moving from one senior spot at the SEC to another.

For the past three years McHugh has served as a top legal adviser to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission chairman Mary Schapiro. Her new position at the agency, announced in mid-December, will be senior adviser to the director of the Division of Investment Management.

McHugh, a 13-year SEC veteran, is already familiar with the position, which she held previously from 2001 to 2009. She also served as acting director of the Division of Investment Management from the end of 2010 to early 2011.

McHugh joined the agency in 1999 as an attorney in the Division of Investment Management, where she focused on mutual fund rulemaking.

McHugh has received the SEC’s Distinguished Service Award in 2012, and is a three-time recipient of the Chairman’s Award for Excellence.

Two other Columbus School of Law alumni also currently hold senior positions within the SEC.  Hope Jarkowski and Michael Didiuk, both members of the Class of 2002, also both serve as counsel to SEC Commissioner Troy A. Paredes.
